St. Pat's Day already passed?

Thanks to everyone who has checked out my blog lately....and given me a hard time about the minimum of entries!! I do have lots of exciting news, so here we go. How did half of March sneak by?
The end of February found me and my brother-in-law, DJ, building a six shelf seed starting chamber on the second floor of his barn. At five flats per shelf, we'll net 30 flats of seedlings per rotation. We're going to test this one for usability and then build another one on the first floor. We spent St. Pat's Day setting up the lights. These were recycled from a retired schoolhouse. At $5 each, I couldn't pass them up!! Picked up 24, enough to outfit the other chamber. The seller was glad to hear the lights were going to such a great cause.
Most of our seed orders have arrived!! I gleefully sorted them into three plastic boxes and bundled all the like ones. The hot pepper bundle is four inches high!! Hope you're all ready for some taste testing!! I am happy to report that one third of our seed stash was collected by us. Seed saving is so much fun!! You get to know the plant through all parts of its life cycle. And in the bigger picture, it is essential to preserve diversity and develop varieties that are regionally adapted. We will be growing many heirloom vegetables this year, so be sure to visit and meet them!
Aunt Bee's Farm is happy to welcome a new member to our farming family: F150 4x4 truck!! She is a nice brownish-red with an extended cab. I've heard that I look pretty good in it with Iris the hound riding shotgun.

It is a much needed addition and will definitely earn its keep! I've ordered magnetic signs for it; they should be ready any day now.
Another building project under research is bee hives. I've ordered three 'nucs' of honeybees that will be ready the first or second week of May. Hauling bees is definitely an application for the truck. Can you see me doing that with the Wrangler? I'm thrilled that our first livestock will be honeybees!!
