I have some very sad news to report....we have lost a great dog in the family.  Shelby was sis's yellow lab who accompanied me to the farm last week.  We were having a great day; she was covered in mud and checking out all the deer trails.  While I was sawing away on an apple tree, she found something to chase and met her maker on Cody Rd.  I was horrified to hear the screaching of brakes, knowing the outcome.  I've earned another stripe on my farmer duds.  It was emotionally tough to lay her to rest by myself.  She was beautiful.

I've pulled a bunch of stumps out in the last few days, sowing annual rye wherever I opened soil.  Our truck is definitely earning it's keep!  I also dug out multiflora rose and burned it with the old phragmites stalks.  Good riddance to invasive plants!  I wanted to burn our garden area, but it was too breezy and dry the rest of the day.

The tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants are finally jumping up.  I think the temperatures were a little low in the barn until recently for them to germinate.  Nearly everything I've sown has sprouted.  It's so much fun to check each day.  I'm taking some plugs to our city garden this weekend=dill, sunflowers, nasturtiums, lettuce, greens, strawflowers, spinach....I need to move them along to make space for other rotations!
