A TRUE spring and summer!!

Today is a rain day for this gardener, showers all day throughout central NY. Good news, since it's been a while since I've written & we can always use showers. I am so happy to report a real spring and summer=cool & moist, warmer & moist, no extreme weather events. Wow, it's wonderful to plant at the farm or at other folk's gardens and count on the rain to cozy the plants into the soil. Our farm is perfectly situated in the path of the weather systems. Our 'maters have thick stems and a shrubby stature, and the field grown basil is coming on strong. Next week we're expecting some high 80 degree temps, perfect growing weather after these soaking rains.
I'm attending the Hamilton Farmer's Market for the first time this season Saturday morning. I'll be selling our cut herbs and flowers, and sis's fabulous picture frames, Hetty's small oil paintings, and flaxseed pillows. Today I'm assembling a mock setup to make sure I pack enough supplies. Emma will be my esteemed helper, charming everyone I'm sure. I'm very excited to be finally selling something there, even though our farm items are a third of what is on the table. Must make our presence known, especially since there are only a few vegetable growers in Madison Co. I'm happy to be showcasing some quality arts and crafts with our produce. It's a family affair!!
Speaking of family affair, the puppies are six weeks old today!! They're growing so fast! The largest one is now 7 lbs. We affectionately call them 'poopies', so you can guess what we spend alot of time doing.... We chose to keep a chocolate fuzzy female named Hazel, and sis is keeping a choc. velvety female named Ginger. They will be the new farm dogs, taking lessons from Iris' playbook this weekend chasing rabbits and groundhogs. Maternity leave is wrapping up!
